Book of the week- On Demand by Justine Elyot

blessed, glorious silence.

So in my quest to blog more, and my quest to spend less time on random internet sites that are bad for me , i'm going to try something new and review a book every week. i've been able to read 2-3 books a week at my top speed, so it shouldn't be too hard. i hope you all like it out there in computer land.

This week's book is On Demand by Justine Elyot . it's an adult book, and i'll try to keep this review as pg-13 as i can, but you may not want to click read more if that's not your thing.

miwako sakurada makeup mini-tutorial.

a friend of mine on twitter asked me to teach her what i just figured out for miwako's makeup. so i'm going to try to explain it to you using some stock photos that i've gimped and some stuff like that, because i don't have a working camera right now. when i have one in the future i'll update this into a full tutorial.

trying to figure out what else i can wear this dress with.

alex bought me this dress for my last birthday. it's beautiful, (it looks a little less awesome in this picture but irl it looks similar to the baby jsk it's a replica of, and has shirring and some of those cross strap neck tie things lolita dresses sometimes have.) but it was kinda pricey so i'm trying to think of other ways i can wear it. already worn it with a white blouse, white tights, and black shoes, and with a black cardigan, and the bitching cameo my friend made me for christmas... (a black cameo on a white ribbon.)

posting this on polyvore, hoping to find some ideas.

need to blog more...

i want to blog more, but it's almost kind of weird using a site where i can't control the way it looks, other people's entries are in with mine, and people i know actually read it. i know that sounds weird, but a lot of my blogging is the kind of highly personal stuff you write that you don't mind other people who are complete strangers reading, but that might offend people i know. especially since sometimes... you know, as a girl, i need to work things out by analyzing them.

the massive wasted potential that is hulu.com.

you can consider this an open letter, i guess. it's to anyone who works in the broadcast or entertainment industry, but also to anyone who has ever downloaded or been tempted to download television or movies illegally, those who work in internet broadcasting, and those who make laws about what can and can't be done over the internet. if you're one of those people, it's time that you understand a few things about where the world is going and how people make money to produce content like television shows.

from a conversation on why dollhouse was cancelled. rant about hulu.com to follow.

Yeah, and then there's the mass of wasted potential that is Hulu. I've been using the site since practically day one and nearly every commercial, which I actually watch since they're unskippable and generally not that intrusive, is for a charity.

You're telling me you can't get online advertising driven at my age bracket? Hell, you literally have the eyeballs of MILLIONS of young people, who are sitting at computers that allow them to surf away to some other site and shop/browse/buy while still watching their show and you're showing me a goodwill ad for the 50th time?

and your momma feels the beat, so you know it's hot!

so my favorite celebrity blogger type person (is there a cheesy portmanteau that's used in cases like this i'm not aware of?) does this thing called "things i love thurday" to celebrate the awesome things in her life. i guess it's sort of a stop and smell the roses thing... i'm going to do one on here because i like the idea and i feel pretty happy today for a change, and i want to savor that. and because alex was worried we don't have enough blog posts.

come what may- moulin rouge film version

just some things that i, as an etsy buyer and chronic window shopper, have noticed really turn me away from buying from an etsy shop and what you, the seller can do about them. with a few variations, this advise could also be useful for people with ebay stores or their own sales websites.
