and your momma feels the beat, so you know it's hot!

so my favorite celebrity blogger type person (is there a cheesy portmanteau that's used in cases like this i'm not aware of?) does this thing called "things i love thurday" to celebrate the awesome things in her life. i guess it's sort of a stop and smell the roses thing... i'm going to do one on here because i like the idea and i feel pretty happy today for a change, and i want to savor that. and because alex was worried we don't have enough blog posts. here are some things that made me squeal with glee or giggle hysterically or something this week.

northern state's album "all city." is amazing. i bought it a long time ago for the irony factor when i was buying a bunch of cds to hear some new bands... they're an all white, all female rap group from the east village in new york. instead of it being that silly thing i haul out occasionally, when it finally made it into my cd player, it became one of my favorite albums of all time. these girls write all their own lyrics, and if you like the hip hop beat but hate the product placement and the things that are sometimes said about women, this is your dream album. they have lyrics like "and you're waiting, you're not breathing, holding your breath thinkin how you gonna live when you're surrounded by death?" they reference history and literature, they talk about political stuff, but they also have some amazing high energy party songs... or if you're like me, they're more like dancing around like a moron in my shower or living room songs, but still. they're freaking amazing! unfortunately, they're so amazing and so unknown that no one really puts their stuff on youtube, so i don't have a link to give you. *lesigh*

WE HAVE A KITTEN! AND HE OPENED HIS EYES THIS WEEK!! need i say more? he's so cute!

i finally broke down and subcribed to a youtube channel yesterday: this girl is cute and cool and if i knew her, i'd probably have a crush on her. her friends are also really cool. (on a semi related note, i think i have a type of girl... i've noticed i usually like girls with shorter punkish type hair. i think it's something about the vulneability of seeing the back of a girl's neck and shoulders, which can be really beautiful.) and i really really love her disney princess makeup tutorials! just in case for some reason, you need to be a princess. i'm going to try the tinkerbell one sometime, and i might use something like the sleeping beauty one for my miwako cosplay.

gloomth came out with two goreous new dresses that they will discuss making in other colors (green!) if you ask. i especially like this jumper, which is shown in white but also comes in black and pink.

i've been talking to friends and my mom (my mom, unlike most moms, is awesome. this doesn't mean she's not embarassing, but... she's sort of like... debbie navotny from queer as folk but with more punk rock and less wild clothing.)a lot more lately... prince and seraphine and i actually went to oz last weekend! we haven't done that in ages. it was mainly a blast, except that someone got a bit sick and the band at malarkey's pub is too loud and not all that good.

i've been walking around alone at night again, i forgot how much i missed it. can't explain why, but it feels right to do... there is nothing more beautiful than some of the gardens in my neighborhood by moonlight. of course, the other night, after i hung out under the library for awhile talking to the ladies who clean it, i was followed home by an ominous orange cat with a bell, who may or may not have been trying to lead me into hell.

i applied for two jobs i actually have a really good chance, in my opinion, of getting- one is at a coffee shop which will be opening in the downtown area soon... for some reason, i think i'd really enjoy being a barista, must be my inner yuppie-hipster genes coming out again...the other is at a bakery, which of course i'm more than qualified for since i worked in one for two years. and my mom says she'll help me with my app for ntc sometime soon, so that i can get my ducks in a row for the bookstore.

alex is cute. i'm not going to go on and on about all the cute things he does, because his friends are reading this, but he also did some math stuff recently and it turns out i may have more money than i think i do! and what do i plan to do with this money, you ask? well, other than the obvious things like green yukatas and heart shaped umbrellas and octopus corsets and frilly commisioned things from miss samantha rei of blasphemina's closet...

i was on craig's list yesterday, looking for a job that isn't actually a scam, when i once again got the urge to travel. i want to visit the land of my childhood, but i'm not sure what to say to the relative about it or if i should tell them i'm in town, so i settled on a more famous city on the same ocean, where it turns out people with picturesque real estate often rent out furnished rooms and flats to tourists for a week at a time for extra income. now, prince and i have wanted to visit that city for a long time. so we're tentatively dreaming of saving up til mardi gras and going for a couple of weeks. it's a good dream, and i'm starting to feel ridiculously untravelled at my age.

oh, and sorry for texting nearly everyone i knew yesterday to squeal about how i saw courtney love playing with her little poemy lyric things on twitter, but... she's fucking amazing.
