OtakuBB is now open!

On Augest 10th I mentioned a new project underway, well this is it,  I was running a lot of forums with only one or two regular users, and i came up with the idea to combine them all into one thing... wilolita, wihookah, trapboard, and all my other forums are now otakubb.org come check it out! we have forums about most of the things discussed on this site such as anime, gaming, music, politics, philosophy, lolita, etc. we even have a roleplaying forum, for those of you who like to do that. it's free to register and you can talk about anything you want.

Unfortunately there has been no end to the flow of spam. There has been way too much spam for me to filter out the actual legitimate comments in the approval queue. I am very sad to see things go this way but it really is my only choice.

So dont' want to sound like a beggar or anything but if anyone is interesting in supporting Slightly Unstable you can donate directly to our hosting bill.  The money doesn't go to my pocket for pizza or anything it goes directly from you to my web host to help pay for my hosting.  Any amount is accepted and greatly appreciated. You can either click the "Donate" button on the navigation bar or the button below the tag cloud.  I am saying this because my Mom mentioned wanting to support the site.

Licensing

I am currently working on writing a Licensing page for the website.  Basically what it's going to say is the fact that when you submit content to Slightly Unstable you still retain the rights to it.  By submitting content to SU you give SU the permission to use it on SU for non commercial purposes.  So if you post something on the site I can display it on the site but I can't sell it to be put into a book without your permission.  I have a lot to write, and then going to finally write down some rules for the site.

War on Spam

So yeah the site has been besieged by spam recently.  Tonight I am doing something about it, I am going to go through all of the hundreds of comments and delete all of the spam comments.  This is really starting to annoy me, it's even gotten to the point where I might consider making it so only registered users can comment.  Things haven't gottent that far yet so don't worry.

Comments for Anonymous Users

"The Fight Song" by Marilyn Manson

I really hated to have to do this but we keep getting a ton of spam on the site from anonymous users.  From now on I anonymous users can still comment but they go into a que, and I have to approve their comments before they show up on the site.  I am really sad that I had to do this.  I will try to find a different solution.

So yeah three new features, two of which has already been added and another that will be up and working by tomorrow. The first feature I have got working is a minor one, if you look under the tag cloud there is now a sentence like "There are a total of 293 blog posts and 318 comments" It updates every time a new comment or post is written, I thought it was kind of cool, thanks go out to gnat from #drupal-support on irc.freenode.com for his help with this.

So yeah I went though the tags and removed the duplicates, misspelling, and just unnecessary tags. I collated a bunch of tags so yeah I hope things are easier to navigate. Feel free to make more tags just remember try to see if a currently existing tag already fits.

Search is Fucked Up

More Foamy Goodness

So for some unknown reason cron has stopped working on SU. I could go into what cron is but I am just going to say that the only thing it affects is the search box. Cron updates the seach database and without it running newer posts aren't searchable. I am currently working on trying to get this fixed. Anyone who would know why cron would stop working in Drupal 6 please post a comment on this post and I will try to get in contact with you.
