website stuff

So I didn't know this because I run my monitor at 1400x900 but apparently when you viewed this site in 1024x768, things ran over the right side. This was caused by the way I had the web badges set up. I fixed it, if something ever just doesn't look right please contact me.

So over this entire time that I have had the ads I have only made 60 cents. Google doesn't pay you until you make $100. So yeah I am never going to make any money so goodbye Google ads.

Would anybody be bothered if I was to put up an Obama button on the left sidebar. I know that it is my site ownership wise but the users are the content creators and I wouldn't want them to feel that I was using them for my own political views. This question is mostly for the writers but readers can weigh in as well.

Here's a bunch of different thoughts all packaged up into one post.

I have been pretty isolated from the rest of the world and depressed over the last week. Things are starting to seem pretty pointless. I am starting to feel like I just want to shut myself off from the rest of the world, and not have to deal with anything or anybody anymore. I think I need a hug. There are studies that say a human being needs as least three hugs a day, I'm getting an exact number of zero hugs a day.

So yeah earlier today the site was down with a 500 error for about 5 minutes. So if you were having problems that's what it was. It was dreamhost's fault not mine. On the bright side I decided to add a visitor map so we can more accurately see where our readers are and what is not just random traffic. Check it out here

So for those that don't know there is a feature in the User Profiles that allows you to enable a personal contact form so that users can send you email through a form on this site. To enable it go to My Account > Edit > Account Settings > Contact Settings

Also under the "Personal Information" tab under My Account I added fields for AIM, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, Twitter, Facebook and Myspace.

For those that don't know what twitter is go here

If you go under the My Account area and press edit you can set your account to post updates to twitter whenever you post a blog entry.

For the Text Format I recommend: BLOG ENTRY: !title !url

I have set up a tagging system that allows you to tag your content when you write it and to tag each other's content when you read it. This effects blog entries and images. You may of noticed the cool tag cloud that too.

Not but not least I am implementing a birthday system that will email users on their birthdays and display upcoming birthdays in the sidebar.

You can now embed youtube videos in your posts. All you need to do is copy the embed code from youtube.com and paste it in.

I was trying to use phpbb3 for the forums, but I decided to just use a drupal module called advanced forum. So yeah.. the forums are up. Feel free to mess around with them.
